Why are Dysport units a different number?

Dysport is measured on its own scale, roughly two to three Dysport units for every one Botox unit. A higher number on your chart does not mean more product in any meaningful sense, and it does not mean a higher price. We quote your total in dollars before we treat.

How fast will I see results, and how long do they last?

Can I switch from Botox to Dysport?

Is there anyone who should not have Dysport?

Dysport contains cow's milk protein, so it is avoided if you have that allergy. It is also not for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, has a neuromuscular disorder such as myasthenia gravis, or has reacted to a botulinum product before. We review all of this at your consultation.

What should I avoid before and after?

For 24 hours before, skip alcohol and, if your physician allows, fish oil and NSAIDs, which increase bruising. Afterward, stay upright for four hours and avoid heavy exercise, facials, or pressure on the area for the rest of the day.

Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a purified botulinum type A protein that temporarily blocks the nerve signal telling a muscle to contract. When the muscle stops pulling, the skin above it stops folding, and the line softens. It is FDA-approved for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and is used across the upper face by experienced injectors.

The active protein in Dysport carries smaller accessory proteins than Botox, which is why it tends to spread a little further from each injection point. Used well, that spread is an advantage: broad, even softening across a wide forehead with fewer entry points.
